Kansas Children's Discovery Center Journal Entries

Right after our visit to the Kansas Children's Discovery Center, our class made a web graphic organizer to jot down our favorite parts about the field trip.   The next day, we used the web graphic organizer as an aide to write a paragraph about our trip.  The students were instructed to use an opening and closing sentence.  They were also not to start each sentence with, "I liked the....  I liked the...." but rather to use more descriptive words to describe their experience.  Afterwards, Mrs. Murray typed up the journal entries for your reading pleasure.  Enjoy!

Yesterday our class went to the Kansas Children's Discovery Center.  I liked the cafe and kitchen.  I enjoyed painting the windows.  I learned how a grain elevator works.  I wish to see the clinic and vet place again because my mom is a nurse.  I did not know they had a tornado box.  I hope to go again.

Yesterday I played at the Kansas Children's Discovery Center.  The kitchen and cafe were awesome.  I thought the grain elevator was cool.  I liked the clinic because I got to be on crutches.  I enjoyed the tornado box because it looked like a real tornado.  I have never seen one.  I painted a rainbow and a heart on the window.  I want to go back.

On January 23, we went to the Kansas Children's Discovery Center in Topeka.  My favorite part was the wood shop.  I also liked the glow-in-the-dark room.  I liked the crutches.  The last thing was the doctor's office.  I would like to go again.

Yesterday I went to Kansas Children's Discovery Center.  The plasma ball looked like it had lightning in it.  The grain elevator was hard to work.  We put dry ice and water in a box to make a tornado.  I saw ping pong balls fly.  I fixed a car.  It was fun.

Yesterday the whole class went to the Discovery Center.  The first thing I saw was the vacuum and ball machine.  The second thing I discovered was the grain elevator.  I made a cross in the wood shop.  I liked the cafe.  I pretended to order ice cream.  The instructor put dry ice into a box to make a tornado box.  I liked the vet because it had a lot of stuffed animals.  I hope we come back another day.

Yesterday I went to the Kansas Children's Discovery Center.  My favorite part was the grain elevator.  I liked it because I always wanted to see how a real one worked.  I also wanted to see how the corn got up there.  I also liked it because I got to know a little more about agriculture.

Our class went to the Discovery Center.  I learned about how grain elevators work.  I built a train at the wood shop and it was fun.  I painted the sky and sun on the window.  The black light room was cool and I got to put letter on the wall.  I got to help the stuffed animals at the vet.  It was hard, but it was fun.  I got to sell ice cream at the cafe.  The tornado box used dry ice and a fan.  The crutches were fun to play with.  I wish I could go back again.
